He's Standing!

On Sunday Daxon started to pull himself up holding on to the furniture.

Then he forgets he's standing and lets go!

Anything Like Me

On Friday Daxon and I ventured out for some shopping. I had just pulled into a parking spot at Wal-Mart when the song that was on the radio caught my attention I started listening to the words. The next thing I knew I was crying! (yes I know it's embarrassing). The song was Anything Like Me by Brad Paisley and I couldn't help but think of Daxon and his Daddy and how I'm so blessed to have a husband like Derek, who is an amazing father and role model for Daxon!

Date Night

Saturday night Derek and I had a date night! We don't usually go out for dates that often as we don't have a babysitter in town, so it was nice to get out just the two of us. We tried out a new restaurant that had just opened this past week and then went to see The Expendables (Derek's choice and the theater only plays one movie so we didn't really have a choice). I must say it was nice to get dressed up and wear high heels as I don't get to many chance to do so any more.

Fire Crackers

This is one of our favorite appetizers around our house and I thought I would share it with all of you! Beware they are spicy!

What You Need

5 Jalapeno peppers
Cream cheese
10 Large shrimp peeled with tails off

5 strips of Bacon

Make It
  • Start by cutting each jalapeno pepper in half horizontally and remove the seeds
  • Fill each half of the jalapeno pepper with cream cheese (I like to add a little copped garlic to the cream cheese first)
  • Place the shrimp on top of the cream cheese in the jalapeno half's
  • Take the strips of bacon and cut them in half
  • Wrap the half piece of bacon around the jalapeno and shrimp
  • Place in a baking pan and place in the oven or toaster oven for about 20 mins or until bacon is cooked.

Loaded Baked Potato Soup

Last night for supper I deiced to try a new soup recipe I had found on the Kraft website. Derek and I enjoy going to Tony Romas for lunch for there soup and sandwich special and we always get the baked potato soup, so I was over joyed when I found this recipe for baked potato soup! It was very easy and takes about 15 mins to make and is all done in the microwave! My husband is the worlds pickiest eater and he even liked it!

What You Need

1 lb. baking potatoes (about 2), cubed (I would add more potatoes as we found it a little to runny and I peeled them first)
1 can (14-1/2 oz.) fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 cup Milk
3 slices Bacon, cooked, crumbled and divided
1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided
1 Green onion sliced, divided
1/4 cup Sour Cream

Make It

MICROWAVE potatoes in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 5 min., stirring after 2-1/2 min. Stir in broth and milk. Microwave 10 min., stirring after 5 min. Carefully crush potatoes with potato masher.

RESERVE 2 Tbsp. each bacon and cheese and 1 Tbsp. onions for topping. Stir remaining bacon, cheese and onions into soup.

SERVE topped with reserved bacon, cheese, onions and sour cream.

My Favorite Room

This is my favorite room in my home! It's my son Daxon's room, it makes me so happy every time I walk by or go into it! Derek and I spent a lot of time getting it ready for our little guy and I think all the little touches make it perfect! Here's a look!

I painted the giraffe mural and Derek's dad painted the stripes. The rocking chair was Derek's Grandmas, its not the most comfortable but adds a touch of nostalgia to the room.

We looked everywhere for pictures that we liked and I deiced just to paint some myself, it was a lot cheaper and go perfectly with the theme.

We used a piece of bamboo as a curtain rod and hung monkeys from it.

Dream House

This is my dream house, I absolutely adore it! I love how every thing is symmetrical. Every time I look at it I picture wicker furniture and lots of flowers on the portch!

8 Months Already!

Were has the time gone? It's hard to believe that only 8 months ago we met our little boy for the first time! Every month we have been taking pictures of Daxon with wooded blocks that say how old he is. The first few months were very easy, we just put him in his bumbo chair with the blocks in front of and snap away. Now that he doesn't need the bumbo chair, I've been finding it quite a challenge to that the pictures, as all he wants to do is play with the blocks and put them in his mouth and this month he just crawls away!
