Christmas Weekend!

Overall we had a great Christmas weekend. Christmas eve and Christmas morning we spent with Derek's parents. On Boxing day we had round two of turkey at our house with my family. Daxon was still to little to know what was going on, so we didn't go crazy with his gifts (we rather save our money for something that he really wants and will know what it is) but we made sure to set out milk and cookies for Santa and discovered by the time Santa get to our house he would prefer a coke rather then milk, so we are going to make a new tradition. We also started a tradition of opening one present on Christmas eve which is Pj's, so I will now be on the look out for the coolest pj's throughout the year. Here are some pictures of our exciting Christmas weekend!

Oh Christmas Tree, or should I say Tree's!

The past years we have always purchased a real tree, I love the tradition of going and picking it out together and the surprise of what it will look like, but most of all the smell. So this year like in the past we went and picked out our tree the first week of December and brought it home and decorated it. Well about a week later I noticed that I was cleaning up the needles two or three times a day! I knew in the back of my mind that the tree was going to be completely dead by Christmas, but though if I kept on watering the thing it would magically come back to life! Well I though wrong because when I woke up one morning she was done, to the point where ornaments were starting to fall off!

I had mentioned my tree situation to my Mom, who then told my Dad, who then went out and bought us a new artificial tree! So we got to decorate the tree twice this year! Lucky for me as it is one of my favorite things about the Christmas season.

Sick Days!

The past week and a half have been kinda crazy around here. It started with Derek coming down with a bad stomach flu, which knock him out for a few days and then I got a lesser vision for a day. Derek's mom came and watched Daxon for the day, which was super nice. Then last weekend Daxon came down with it! I must say it has hit him harder then it did us. He hasn't had much of an appetite the last few days and won't drink anything but formula from his bottle (which we had taken him off a few weeks ago). He was even sick on his birthday! He's getting better slowly but surly, so hopefully we'll have our rambunctious little man back soon.

Derek also started a new job on Monday, so we have been trying to adjust with his new hours and getting a schedule down. I must say he's much happier then where he was, so it will all be worth it!

Well that's my update (aka excuse for not blogging much lately). Here's a picture of our sick little guy, who has found a new home on the dogs bed.

Embrace the Camera

To celebrate Daxon's first Birthday yesterday I thought I would do an Embrace the Camera flashback to one year ago when we first met our little man! Absolutely the most wonderful day of our lives!

Advent Calendars

Grandma and Grandpa E gave Daxon this advent calendar to count down till Christmas, it's super cute and each day filled with a little treat! I'm sure it will to a tradition for years to come!

I made this advent calendar for Derek and I, as you are never to old for an advent calendar! It's made from a small muffin tin, magnets and some festive paper. I used the chocolates that my sister and I had made to fill it!

Candy Cane Wreath

I made this wreath last year and thought I would share it! It was very easy to make, all you do is glue mini candy canes onto the wreath form and add some Christmas balls and a bow, simple enough!

DIY Curtains Tie Backs

We finally just finished the trim around our patio doors in our kitchen/dining room (after having installed the doors over a year ago). To show it off a little better we decided to tie back the curtains. Living in a small town that has nothing as far as decor stores I thought I better get creative and come up with something.

Through out the years I have kept the bottom piece of our Christmas tress, always having the intention to do something with them. So after searching around for something to use I decided to use them to make the curtain ties and I love the way they turned out.

Grey Cup Party!

On Sunday we had a few people over the watch the Grey Cup, as our beloved Roughriders were playing again this year. Although we didn't pull off a win, we sure enjoyed some great food. We had a full spread, complete with rider inspired food labels.
