Happy October 31

If you ask Daxon what he wants to be to when he grows up, hes going to say a fireman. I think its a stage all little boys go thru and Daxon has been in it for two years now. So I pretty much knew the answer when I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween and I was even luckier that he already had a fireman suite. (which he wears on a weekly basis, because hes 3 and he can) So what does a fireman need?? A fire dog of course, which he designated Tatum to be! I was lucky to find a lady who was selling a dalmatian costume which was the perfect size. So there you have it, I had everything planned a month before Halloween, well so I thought. You cant be a fireman and a fire dog without a firetruck. So after some searching, this is what we ended up with!

 The firetruck, which I made using two pieces of cardboard, that I painted to look like a firetruck and attached them each piece to the wagon with zip ties! 

It was a total hit with everyone who seen it and work out perfect for taking Tatum trick or treating around the block! Daxon loved pulling it. Since she is still so small I took her highchair seat and put it in the wagon, so she could be strapped in.

I cant wait to think of a matching costume for them next year!

Advent Calendars

Grandma and Grandpa E gave Daxon this advent calendar to count down till Christmas, it's super cute and each day filled with a little treat! I'm sure it will to a tradition for years to come!


I made this advent calendar for Derek and I, as you are never to old for an advent calendar! It's made from a small muffin tin, magnets and some festive paper. I used the chocolates that my sister and I had made to fill it!

Candy Cane Wreath

I made this wreath last year and thought I would share it! It was very easy to make, all you do is glue mini candy canes onto the wreath form and add some Christmas balls and a bow, simple enough!

DIY Curtains Tie Backs

We finally just finished the trim around our patio doors in our kitchen/dining room (after having installed the doors over a year ago). To show it off a little better we decided to tie back the curtains. Living in a small town that has nothing as far as decor stores I thought I better get creative and come up with something.

Through out the years I have kept the bottom piece of our Christmas tress, always having the intention to do something with them. So after searching around for something to use I decided to use them to make the curtain ties and I love the way they turned out.

Monkey Birthday Invitations

As I mentioned in my last post Daxon will be turning one on December 15th and we have decided on a monkey theme. I thought I would share with you the first step for his party, the invitations. I made them using Scrapblog Builder, which was free and then I printed them off at Wal-mart! I'm so happy with the way they turned out!

Get Well Soon

While staying with my parents last week, Derek's mom called me up and asked if I would have time to put a basket together for a friend of hers that was in the hospital, this is what I ended up with!

Silhouette

Lately I've been hearing and seeing a lot about silhouettes, so I thought I would try it out.

All I did was take a picture of Daxon, cut it out, spray painted it black and glue it to some black and white scrapbooking paper!It was so easy and I must say it turned out absolutely fabulous!

Think Pink!

Last week while standing in line at the grocery store I turned around to look at the shelf at the end of the aisle and to my amazement there was PINK Purex toilet paper (it was a special package in support of breath cancer), so of course I had to get a package!

I then made up this toilet paper cake as a hostess gift for my sister, who loves anything pink!

Fall Treats!

I put together these little bags full of homemade chocolates for Thanksgiving supper at Derek's parents house this past Sunday!

And also these little bags for the table settings at Thanksgiving supper this coming Sunday at my sisters house.

Auntie Cara's Visit

On Monday my sister Cara came and stayed the night at our house. We spent the day making cabbage rolls, chocolates and Christmas cards. We had so much fun! We looked and at clock and it was 7:30pm and then the next time was 10:30pm and we wondered where the time had gone!

The next morning she watched Daxon while I cleaned the house, I really appreciated it as I always feel like I'm neglecting him while I'm cleaning!

Blessing Ring

I'm can't remember where I first heard about a blessing ring, but as soon as I saw one I knew it was something I wanted to make! After getting married and having a baby last year we were left with piles of cards and had know idea what to do with them. I felt really guilty about throwing them away but knew they would just end up in a box somewhere so I thought this was a great way to display them.



It's very easy and cheap, all you need is:

• Metal necklace ring (found at a craft store)
• Ribbon
• Hole punch
• Greeting cards

1. Take all the cards and make a hole in the top left corner
2. Thread all the cards onto the ring
3. Tie the ribbon onto the ring

That's it! See so easy! I put Daxon's ring on the back of this door handle, I'm sure it will end up in a box eventually, but at least there all together, looking nice!
