Sweet Dreams, Finally

As I had mentioned in post's throughout my blog, Daxon was sleeping through the night since the day we brought him home. I remember the first night waking him up to feed him and then having people telling me if he's hungry he will wake up and I should be lucky he sleeps so good.

Well lets just say things have changed a lot since then. He would go through spurts of sleeping well and then waking up a lot and having to rock him back to sleep, only for him to wake up screaming the moment you put him back in his crib and then ending up having to put him in bed with us for him to fall asleep and let me tell you he is not the best person to sleep with and know one got a good night sleep!

I had tried a few things in the past to try to get him to sleep and ended up choosing the Ferber method. I know there is a lot of controversy over this technique, but my parents used it on me and it did not traumatize me.

So starting this past week I thought I would give it another go (I had tried it a few times in the past but then something would come up and we never followed through). The one thing that I hadn't done in the past was come up with a strong bedtime routine, so this time we started with that part. We get Daxon in his Pj', turned off the bedroom light and turned the lamp on, we then sit in the rocking chair and read a book, after the book it's bed time. I can't tell you how well this has worked. The first night he cried for 45 mins (Derek was at work, so I called a friend to distract me), the second night 15 mins and the last 5, right to sleep, no standing up crying and throwing his blanket out of the crib, just quite and falling asleep and sleeping the entire night!

I am so happy with the way it had been going and everyone has been a lot happier with a good night sleep!

Happy Anniversary!

Today Derek and I are celebrating our second anniversary! Looking back to that day it's hard to believe we are where we are today, with a one year old! I still remember the day as if it were yesterday, the sand between our toes, the topless lady on the beach that wouldn't move (we eventually got her to move, wouldn't that have made for some memorable photos), the blue water backdrop and sunny sky! And most of all our first kiss as husband and wife. I wouldn't have done it any other way!

2011 Resolutions

So I`m not usually one to make resolutions, but there are a few things I would like to change, or improve on, so I thought why not with a new year.

1. Stop drinking pop, so at least less of it
2. Be in the moment and have more fun
3. Take a picture a day for the entire year
4. Be healthier- not necessarily loose weight (which I would also love), but just make better food choices and instead of driving to the store or to get the mail on a nice day, walk.
5. Save more money- you can never have enough stashed away

I don`t want to stretch it, so these five will do.

New Years!

It's been along time since we went out on new years eve, the last few years we spent at home or doing something low key because we had to work. So this year was the year to let loose, I felt bad at first leaving Daxon on new years, but then thought he's in bed by 7:00pm anyways, so it probably best we go out this year and then new year stay at home with him.

My sister headed up the new years festivities by renting a party bus to take us to the Casino for supper, I must say that the meal was very disappointing, but nothing a bottle of wine couldn't help. We hung around at the casino for a few hours after supper until the bus returned to take us back to my sisters place, where we partied hard. Here are a few picks of our exciting night! (the pictures aren't with my good camera so the quality isn't the best)
